Artboard 1
Academic support is a core part of our program. Students receive guidance from both on-site and remote faculty, with each faculty member assigned to mentor a dedicated group of students. We counsel them, support them, and walk alongside them throughout their medical education.

During the final two years of the MD program, PHSU–BVI students may apply for clinical rotations at affiliated teaching hospitals and approved clinical sites in Missouri, Florida, and Puerto Rico. These opportunities offer valuable exposure to diverse patient populations and U.S. healthcare environments, supporting clinical development and preparation for residency training.

Students from around the world choose PHSU BVI for its supportive community and personalized approach to student success. Our team assists international students with every step of their journey, helping them feel confident, connected, and prepared to achieve their academic and professional goals.

PHSU BVI has an ECFMG Sponsor Note in the World Directory of Medical Schools. Students and graduates of PHSU BVI are eligible to apply for ECFMG Certification, provided all ECFMG requirements are met. ECFMG Certification is an important step for many international medical graduates seeking to enter residency training in the United States. The addition of the ECFMG Sponsor Note confirms that PHSU BVI students and graduates may pursue this pathway, subject to the standard requirements applicable to all applicants.

The Doctor of Medicine program at Ponce Health Sciences University's British Virgin Islands campus holds preliminary accreditation from the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM), an internationally recognized accrediting body for medical education programs.
